Today the final curtain was drawn!
Today was the Memorial Service of my beloved mother, Naomie de Villiers. It heralds the final curtain drawn on a life well lived! (See my tribute)
But, today was the day that reality hit me for the first time! She is gone – gone forever. Gone to a better place. Gone to a place without pain. Gone to be with her God. Gone to be with Dad.
Although my heart is broken; broken into million pieces, I know my heart will be healed in time. Just as her pain is now healed for ever!
Like my brother said, we are now orphans! But she left behind a legacy of life and love. A legacy that will give us the strength to continue without her. But she will rest in peace – knowing that she and Dad showed us the way. With their way we will see the light. We will be guided by the eternal light.
As my sister said, she left behind pearls! When she said this during the memorial service my memories went back to one of the gospel songs my parents taught us when we were little; “As Hy weer kom, as Hy weer kom; kom haal Hy Sy pêrels. Al Sy pêrels, fraaie pêrels, ……..”
Then all came together for me. On 16 January 2011 God came and fetch one precious pearl; Naomie.
This I realised after the memorial service; and then my tears were dried by God and he gave me inner peace to continue with the race of Life as only my mother could teach us.
The peace is in the words of the sermon; she did not leave behind money or material things; she left behind memories; an example how the race of Life should be run!!
She had a good life. She left us a good Life. May be I will find peace now! I know I will.
